Bismarck East Main Avenue Corridor Study

The City of Bismarck and the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization have partnered to study and plan for the future of the East Main Avenue Corridor.  The Study will establish a vision for the corridor in 2045, and steps to achieve that vision.  The corridor spans from 7th Street on the west end to 26th Street on the east end.

Historically the corridor served industrial needs as both the north and south blocks along the corridor benefited from truck access along Main Avenue and rail access to the rear.  BNSF railway and some rail spurs still serve a portion of the corridor, mainly to the south and east.  Today the corridor is a transition area with some industrial and commercial elements that continue to serve some freight needs, but also local and regional roadway users.  The west end of the corridor transitions to Downtown Bismarck.

The Study will be guided by a Study Review Committee of local and state government representatives and freight interest.  Corridor stakeholders included property and business owners will be given the opportunity to consult with the project team and community workshops will be made available.

The Study will be completed in early 2023
